George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence speak out about Harvey Weinstein allegations

Two actors who have worked with Harvey Weinstein in the past are speaking out.

George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence called Weinstein’s alleged sexual harassment “indefensible” and “inexcusable.”

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Clooney was a straight shooter when talking about the studio executive. “It’s indefensible. That’s the only word you can start with,” Clooney said.

“Harvey’s admitted to it, and it’s indefensible.” The Gravity star did, however, mention he had never witnessed any concerning actions from Weinstein: “I’ve never seen any of this behaviour — ever.”

Weinstein, now 65, gave Clooney, now 56, his first big acting break in From Dusk Till Dawn and first directing gig for Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.

The Hunger Games star Lawrence shared a similar sentiment in a statement to Variety. “I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behaviour,” Lawrence said.

“I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations,” she continued.

Adding, “This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting. My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward.”

Weinstein was recently terminated from The Weinstein Company in light of the accusations against him.
