Witnesses saw the SUV crash into a nearby church and helped the pursuing officers locate the crash.
When police arrived at the church, the suspect had fled the scene.
“A canine unit was brought in to locate the suspect,” said Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
“He was found in a backyard of a home on Greenoch street shortly after.”
Nobody was injured and Montreal police say the suspect, who is known to police, may face charges of vehicular theft and hit-and-run after fleeing the scene of the accident.
