55-year-old man dies in two vehicle crash in Waasis, N.B.

New Brunswick RCMP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on the Trans-Canada Highway in Waasis, about 20 kilometers from Fredericton.

Police were called to the area shortly before 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Investigators say a transport truck heading westbound collided with a vehicle attempting to make a left turn across two lanes of traffic.

The driver of the vehicle, a 55-year-old man from Saint John, was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the transport truck was not injured.

RCMP say speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the crash.
