Expect road blocks and an accrued police presence on the roads this holiday weekend as Montreal police crack down on unsafe drivers.
“Operation Impact,” which is a campaign aimed at saving lives by raising awareness about road safety, runs from Oct. 6 to Oct. 9.

In a news release, Montreal police say the force will focus on the behaviours that put lives at risk, including impaired driving, failure to use seat belts, aggressive driving and distracted driving.

“Raising public awareness about road safety is a priority for our organization,” the release reads.

Since the beginning of 2017, there have been 20 fatal collisions on the island of Montreal.
