The unemployment rate in Saskatchewan dropped in September.
Statistics Canada reported Friday the unemployment rate for the month was 6.2 per cent, a drop of 0.2 percentage points from the previous month.

The drop was mainly due to fewer people in the workforce, with the agency reporting 1,300 fewer people in the labour force during the month.
The number of people employed during the month remained steady, with a 3,300 gain in full-time jobs offset by a 3,200 decline in part-time work.

Nationally, the unemployment rate held steady at 6.2 per cent as 10,000 net new jobs were added to the economy, mainly in Ontario.
