WINNIPEG – Sears is leaving CF Polo Park.
The struggling department store chain announced Friday night it is closing 10 more department stores, including its spot as one of Polo Park’s anchor tenants.
It is seeking the necessary court approvals to go ahead with the move.

The timeline for the closure is unclear, but Sears does expect liquidation sales will take place over the coming months.
About 1,200 employees will be affected across the country. It’s not known how many will lose their jobs here in Winnipeg.

Sears also says it has “entered into an agreement of purchase and sale” for its Garden City location, but it doesn’t say with whom. The company announced it would close this fall back in June.
