Naheed Nenshi has released the full list of donors to his re-election campaign and is putting more pressure on the other mayoral candidates to do the same.

“Voters have a right to know who is funding a candidate before they cast their vote,” Nenshi said in a release.

“I simply wouldn’t vote for a candidate who refuses to disclose their donor list.”

The list shows donations from as small as $1 to $100, all the way up to $2,500 to $5,000.

Twenty of Nenshi’s hundreds of donors donated between $2,500 to $5,000. In the 2013 election, 64 contributors gave that much.

Along with releasing the numbers, Nenshi again called for reform to the campaign finance protocols, specifically the fact that campaign donations don’t have to be disclosed until the election is over.

He said releasing the donors gives Calgarians the opportunity to see who’s contributing to candidates before heading to the ballot boxes.

On Monday, mayoral candidate Bill Smith said he hadn’t considered releasing the list of his donors, but said it’s something he’d consider as election day gets closer and donations start coming in.

Another candidate, Andre Chabot said he would consider releasing the names of his donors, except the names of those who specifically wanted to remain anonymous.

A full list of Nenshi’s campaign donors can be found here.
