The last of those forced from their homes by massive wildfires in Manitoba are heading home Tuesday.

Residents from Wasagamack, Garden Hill and St. Theresa Point First Nations were evacuated on Aug. 29 as a wildfire threatened the communities.
More than 6,300 people were housed in Thompson, Brandon and Winnipeg until it was safe for them to go home.

Roughly 350 Red Cross volunteers and staff put in more than 14,000 hours of work, according to a Red Cross release.

Evacuees from St. Theresa Point First Nation returned home last week and more than 1,200 from Garden Hill and Wasagamack First Nations flew back Monday. The final evacuees will fly home from Winnipeg and Thompson Tuesday.
