A part-time special constable with Hamilton police has been charged.
Police say the 38-year-old man was arrested on Sept. 14 and has been charged with assault.
Police say the special constable was on duty at the John Sopinka Court House when the incident took place.

He was released on a promise to appear with conditions.
The special constable has been suspended from duties and will appear in court Oct. 17.
His name has not been released.
