A man from Fishing Lake Metis Settlement, Alta. is facing eight charges after a carjacking with a gun occurred earlier this week.
Police said after a driver dropped several people off at a home at around 9 a.m. on Sept. 10, a man pulled a gun and demanded the keys to the vehicle. The driver was able to get away and call police after the man drove away with the car.
Elk Point RCMP responded, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Then, at around 4 p.m., officers responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 897 near Frog Lake. The vehicle matched the description of the earlier carjacking.
At one point, the car swerved by a police vehicle, narrowly missing the officers, lost control and drove into the ditch.
Marlon Lacombe, 26, was arrested without incident and has been charged with eight charges, including robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police seized a loaded rifle, with ammunition, from the vehicle.
Lacombe was also wanted by police for armed robbery and assault causing bodily harm from an alleged incident that occurred on June 21.
He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to be back in St. Paul Provincial Court on Sept. 14.
