Police are investigating after a woman’s torso was discovered in Lake Ontario east of Toronto.
Durham Regional Police said the body part was found by a fisherman near the Oshawa Harbour around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Const. George Tudos said preliminary investigation at the scene revealed the body showed signs of trauma.

Police said at the scene a fisherman spotted the torso and investigators are unsure of how long it was in the water.
Results of the post mortem were inconclusive as far as the cause of death, however, investigators from the homicide unit say the death is considered suspicious.
Further testing will be conducted by the Centre of Forensic Sciences in the hopes of identifying the victim and obtaining a DNA profile.
DRPS Homicide Investigators have reached out to neighbouring police services in an effort to check outstanding missing person files that may assist them with the identification of the victim.
