Irma was downgraded to a tropical storm Monday more than a day after making Florida landfall. The powerful storm cut a path of destruction over the Caribbean last week, leaving at least 24 dead and leaving some islands in complete ruins.

Antigua and Barbuda, St. Martin and the Virgins Islands took the brunt of Hurricane Irma’s wrath as the storm cut power lines and communication to and from the isolated islands. In Barbuda, nearly 90 per cent of homes suffered damage, leaving nearly half of the country’s 1,800 people homeless, according to Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister Gaston Browne. St. Martin was said to be 95 per cent destroyed as a result of the storm.
