About 1,500 Okanagan residents live with Parkinson’s Disease and not all treatments work for each patient, according to local neurologist Dr. Daryl Wile.

But one treatment is giving some patients new hope: deep brain stimulation.

It’s a procedure that also requires a trip to Vancouver, making it less accessible to those who may need it the most.

The Parkinson’s Superwalk takes place in Kelowna, Sept. 9 at Waterfront Park with registration opening at 9 a.m., the walk begins at 10 a.m.
