Northern Alberta man killed in head-on crash west of St. Paul: RCMP

The RCMP are investigating after a crash in east-central Alberta left a 67-year-old man dead on Wednesday morning.

Police said officers were called to a two-vehicle crash west of St. Paul, Alta. at Highway 29 and Range Road 102 at about 8 a.m.

Investigators believe an SUV was headed east on Highway 29 when it collided head-on with a car headed west. A 67-year-old man from Lac Sante, Alta. Was driving the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 29-year-old man from Vilna, Alta. was driving the SUV and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance before being airlifted to hospital in Edmonton. Police said he suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Both men were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Traffic was diverted for several hours while police investigated. The RCMP said the investigation remains ongoing and “all possible contributing factors” related to the crash are being looked at.
