Scott McKeen has been re-elected as councillor in downtown Edmonton’s Ward 6, according to unofficial results Monday night.
McKeen was first elected to council in 2013, after long-time Councillor Jane Batty retired from politics.
Here’s a quick look at the candidates running in Ward 6.
Bill Knight
Bill Knight is the owner of Three Knights Investments Inc., which assists entrepreneurs with growing their businesses. He said his platform focuses on three main issues: infill housing and development, economic growth and social assistance.

Scott McKeen
A former journalist, Scott McKeen was elected in Ward 6 in the last election. He prides himself on his work with the city’s most vulnerable population, through his mental health and urban isolation initiative.

Adil Pirbhai
Adil Pirbhai is an accountant, which he said taught him to be fiscally prudent. His priorities include expanding LRT to west Edmonton, invigorating the downtown core and creating a task force to come up with a solution on social housing.
Tish Prouse
Tish Prouse said he is running because he wants a council that demonstrates fiscal restraint and prudence when dealing with taxpayer dollars. His top priorities include ending the city’s homeless crisis, preserving the city’s history and a thoughtful approach to infill.

In total, 13 people are running for mayor and there are 70 candidates for city council. Twenty people are running to become Edmonton Catholic School Board trustees, while 28 people are running to become Edmonton Public School Board trustees (including one acclamation).
Election day is Monday, Oct. 16.
