Ontario’s independent police watchdog has laid a charge against a Toronto officer in connection with a 2015 arrest in North York.
The Special Investigations Unit said Wednesday that a 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries while being taken into custody outside of an apartment complex near Maple Leaf Drive and Jane Street on Nov. 30, 2015.
Toronto police had responded as a result of a 911 call. The 23-year-old had been sitting in a taxi cab prior to the arrest.

The SIU said it was notified of the incident nearly a year later and launched an investigation.
Toronto police Const. Joseph Dropuljic has been charged with one count of assault. He is expected in court on Sept. 7
The SIU investigates cases where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault involving police in Ontario.
