Canada’s Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan paid a visit to the Deadpool 2 set, posing for a picture with star Ryan Reynolds.
“Great to catch up with fellow Vancouverite Ryan Reynolds,” Sajjan wrote on Twitter, posting a photo of himself with Reynolds. The actor was in his Deadpool costume, minus his mask.
He went on to tweet about how Vancouver is becoming a leading city for film production in Canada. The West Coast city is the third-largest film and production centre in North America, behind only Los Angeles and New York City.Deadpool 2 is just the latest big budget movie to film in Vancouver after recent Hollywood productions Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, War For The Planet Of The Apes and Fifty Shades Of Grey. The city is also home to a host of DC Comics’ series including Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl.Reynolds liked all three of Sajjan’s tweets.
The set visit wasn’t the first time the actor met Canada’s Defence Minister however. Back in March 2016, Sajjan posted a photo from the White House of their first meeting during a State Dinner for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, captioned: “How badass is this, Canada? Two Vancouverites in Washington, DC. Ryan Reynolds #Deadpool #PMDC” Sajjan’s visit to the Vancouver movie set comes just over a week after stuntwoman Joi “SJ” Harris was killed after she lost control and crashed into a building while filming a motorcycle stunt for the film.
