The victim, identified as Toronto resident Virgil Kamal Jack, was found lying in a body of water by a passerby.

On Sunday, Toronto Police Det. Sgt. Terry Browne said Jack was last seen or spoken to by her family around 2:30 or 3 p.m. Friday afternoon. It is unknown where she headed to after that point, or who she may have been trying to meet.

It’s also not known whether she was stabbed in the park, or somewhere else.

Tire tracks were found close to the area where the body was located. Police said the tracks are of interest because they were located in an area where one wouldn’t expect to see tracks, and they suggest that a vehicle may have been in a rush to leave the area.

Jack’s family told police that she was newly married to her husband, who doesn’t live in Canada. They said it was unusual for her to stray far from home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Toronto Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
