Metalheads attending the WATCH: Metallica concert in Vancouver Monday night are being advised to arrive early at BC Place. It’s the first big concert since the chaos seen at the venue back in May when U2 was in town. Ted Chernecki reports – Aug 14, 2017

Metallica is set to take the stage at BC Place Monday night and concert-goers are being warned to get there early.

Enhanced security measures will be in place at tonight’s show, which could slow down the entry process.

However, BC Place Spokesperson Laura Ballance said the stadium is not using an anti-counterfeiting security system that was widely blamed for causing big delays at May’s U2 concert.

“There is no credit card verification system in place for the Metallica concert this evening, and as is our standard procedure and that of other venues around the world there is bag checks in place, so we’re asking people to arrive early as they would for any big concert.”

Doors for the show open at 4 p.m. but ticket-holders are being encouraged to arrive early.

The warning comes just a few months after a new credit card system at the stadium caused mayhem at a U2 concert.

Those without physical tickets are being reminded to bring their confirmation number, photo ID and the credit card used to purchase the tickets to avoid delays.

Ballance added that in order to keep crowds flowing smoothly, ticketholders can enter through any of BC Place’s entrances.

“All guests may enter through any gate, although their ticket has a suggested gate that puts them in closest proximity to their seat, they may enter through any gate if the gate they are directed to are busy.”
