Calgary police were able to resolve a potentially dangerous situation in the downtown core on Thursday after a man barricaded himself inside a building near Olympic Plaza.
Emergency crews were called to 7 Avenue S.E. and 1 Street S.E. at around 9 p.m. after the man allegedly started making threats and refusing to leave a building in the area.
The Calgary Police Service Tactical Unit was called it and cordoned off the area.

As a result, Calgary Transit had to stop CTrains from running in the downtown core.

Officers took the man into custody after about five hours of negotiations.

According to police, the man has been checked into a hospital.
It’s not known what, if any, charges will be laid.
