Interac has temporarily taken the Interac e-Transfer offline Friday due to “intermittent issues,” as the month of June comes to an end.

Interac first reported issues with its system Thursday around 6:30 p.m. ET when the e-transfer service was showing a “currently unavailable” message.

The company reported the service was functional just after 7 p.m. before experiencing problems again later in the evening.

At around 2:20 a.m., Interac said the e-transfer service was restored and apologized “for the inconvenience tonight.” However, the service appeared to be down again Friday morning.

“The INTERAC e-Transfer service is operating, but there are intermittent issues with sending/receiving. We are working to resolve. Stay tuned,” the company tweeted.

At around 2 p.m., Interac said in a statement its suffering from “significant technical difficulty” impacting the e-transfer service.

“We are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” the company said. “Some financial institutions have suspended the Interac e-Transfer service.”

No other Interac services have been affected by the technical issues, the company said.

The company says an internal technical problem caused the issue, but INTERAC says all data remains secure.
