WINNIPEG – There’s a certain soundtrack synonymous with baseball. But the game also comes with an unofficial playlist.
Walk-up music is the tune that blasts before a player’s at-bat. For the Winnipeg Goldeyes, it’s all part of a sound strategy.
“I try to look for something that pumps me up and maybe gets the crowd going a little bit,” Goldeyes outfielder Josh Romanski said.

Players are responsible for picking a track but also what section is spun. At most, they have 15 seconds to jam before reaching home plate. The search for the right song starts well before opening night.
“You’re sort of on the hunt once the season is over,” Goldeyes infielder Wes Darvill said. “You’re looking for something that’s out there.”
Not all songs though play well. If a batter skips a beat, they’ll hit next.
“If they went into a hitting slump, they would ask for something to keep it fresh,” Goldeyes DJ Paul Duque said.
Hoping a new hit will help create some as well.
