WINNIPEG — Police have arrested and charged a Winnipeg man in connection with five bank robberies and two commercial robberies stretching back to 2016.
The first robbery was reported on Feb. 15, 2016 and the last one was reported Monday. In all seven incidents the suspect was described as a man in disguise who threatened staff.

Rakesh Rakesh, a 39-year-old man from Winnipeg, was arrested and faces the following charges:
- Armed robbery using a firearm x 3
- Disguise with intent x 6
- Robbery x 4
- Possess weapon

- Commercial business in the 2200 block of McPhilips Street: Feb. 15, 2016
- Commercial business in the 1000 block of McPhilips Street: Feb. 19, 2016
- Financial institution in the 1800 block of Main Street on March 4, 2016
- Financial institution in the 1300 block of Ellice Avenue on May 11, 2016
- Financial institution in the 1500 block of St. Mary’s Road on March 9, 2017
- Financial institution in the 600 block of St. James Street on March 27, 2017
- Financial institution in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue on June 26, 2017
