WINNIPEG — Sydney Eric Norman Fleury, 43, has been charged with manslaughter after an assault on June 19, according to a Winnipeg police news release.
A 37-year-old man, Marvin Elia Caribou was “seriously assaulted” Monday at approximately 11 p.m. in the 100 block of Martha Street. Police said they were in the area when bystanders called them over to help.

Caribou had suffered “significant head trauma” and was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Fleury was located and arrested a short time later in the area. He was charged with aggravated assault.
On Wednesday Caribou died in hospital from his injuries.
Major Crime Unit investigators rearrested Fleury at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and charged him with an upgraded charge of manslaughter.
