The contract dispute between the Edmonton Eskimos and their first round pick from this year’s CFL draft has finally come to an end.

On Wednesday the Eskimos officially signed Carleton Ravens receiver Nate Behar to a reported two-year contract.

Behar was selected by the Eskimos fifth overall at the CFL draft on May 7. The 22-year-old attended New York Giants rookie mini-camp shortly after the draft but didn’t earn a contract.

The Eskimos were not able to come terms on a contract with Behar by the time training camp opened on May 28.

Behar played four seasons at Carleton, recording 2,577 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns in 30 games. He is currently on his way to Edmonton, there’s no word yet on whether he will take part in his first practice on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Eskimos suffered a scare at practice Wednesday when running back John White left the practice field after taking a hard knock from defensive back Garry Peters.

White was escorted off the field by trainers and was replaced by LaDarius Perkins before White made his return to practice.

“Yeah he’s fine he just got the wind knocked out of him, if that happens you’re going to be out for a few plays anyways.” head coach Jason Maas said. “It’s good for Perkins to see it where, if John goes down in a game he’s out for three plays no matter what.”

Running back Travon Van missed practice again Wednesday, while defensive back Forrest Hightower participated in the early portion of practice before leaving early.

The Eskimos face the B.C. Lions on Saturday night in Vancouver in the season-opener for both teams. 630 CHED will have live coverage starting with Countdown to Kick-off at 6:30 p.m. The opening kick-off from B.C. Place Stadium is 8 p.m.
