Flood water and warm weather have created the perfect storm for mosquitoes in the Okanagan.

Peak season is on its way through until mid-July.

In the Central Okanagan, the usual standing water treatments are being expanded with extra crews.

In the south, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen is spreading bacterial larvacide in low-flying helicopter runs over known breeding areas.

Standing water on private property should be removed, according to officials.
