Winnipeg police seized 1.6 kilograms of methamphetamine Thursday night that was shown during a media briefing Friday.
After an extensive investigation, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 1000 block of Power Street at approximately 7 p.m.
Officers found 1.6 kilograms of meth with a street value of $250,000 and some cash in the home.
A man and a woman were arrested and charged with possession of a scheduled substance for purpose of trafficking, and possess proceeds of crime obtained by crime.
“These people were relatively unknown to us and we believe they acted independently,” Winnipeg police Cst. Jay Murray said.
“It’s a significant seizure,” Murray said. ” We don’t often see meth in this kind of amounts. It is here in Winnipeg so we’re happy to get it off the street.”
