Crown to present closing arguments in William Sandeson trial

Prosecutors will deliver their closing arguments Tuesday in the first degree murder trial for William Sandeson, 24.

Sandeson is charged with killing Taylor Samson, 22, in August 2015.

The defence laid out their case Monday for the jury when they presented their closing arguments.

Lawyer Eugene Tan told the court not only were there inconsistencies with the Crown’s theory but there were shortcomings in the police investigation and that some of the forensic evidence in the case doesn’t match up.

Statement from the Sandeson Family

We are disappointed and disturbed the Crown’s use of subpoenas to keep us out of the courtroom for the entire trial period.

In March, we were issued 2 subpoenas commanding us to appear as witnesses for the Prosecution between April 18 and June 13. Under the exclusion of witness process, anyone (subpoenaed) is not allowed to be present in the courtroom until after giving testimony. We were never called as witnesses. Therefore, we were kept away for the entire duration.

The case resumes 9:30 a.m. at Nova Scotia Supreme Court.
