The victim has now been identified as 31-year-old Tyler Pastuck who was well-known to police.

RCMP Inspector Keith Bramhill said officers were called to the scene around midnight after reports of shots fired outside Brown’s Social House on 200 St. and Willowbrook Drive.

He said the restaurant was still open at the time of the shooting.

“There were several patrons obviously very concerning for families and young people and patrons that were there just having a dinner when shots rang out, so it’s very concerning for us.”

RCMP Cpl. Meghan Foster said Pastuck died following the shooting, which police believe was targeted.

A 33-year-old man was sent to hospital and is expected to survive. Both men were known to police, Foster said.

Following the shooting, a car located nearby at the intersection of 203 Street and 63 Avenue was set on fire. Mounties said Monday that they have not been able to confirm the vehicle was connected to the homicide.

This incident follows a shooting in Langley in April, outside the Sandman Hotel in the 8800-block of 201 St.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation.
