Three suspects have been arrested after a student of a high school in Toronto’s west end was stabbed Thursday afternoon, prompting the school to go into a lockdown.
Toronto police said officers and paramedics were called to Michael Power – St. Joseph High School at Renforth and Eringate drives, south of Eglinton Avenue West, just after 3 p.m.
Police said a student was involved in an altercation outside of the school when he was stabbed in the torso. He then went back inside where administrators waited with him until paramedics arrived. The student was taken to a trauma centre in serious condition.
Police said Thursday they had located and arrested three suspects.
The Toronto Catholic District School Board said the school was placed in temporarily lockdown as a “precautionary measure due to police activity in the area.”
