A ‘Pissing Pug’ statue was placed at the foot of Wall Street’s ‘Fearless Girl’ sculpture as a protest for artistic independence.

The artist behind the urinating dog sculpture was Alex Gardega, who told The New York Post that the statue of a young girl standing defiantly in front of the ‘Charging Bull’ is “corporate nonsense.” He added that its statement infringes upon the meaning behind the bull statue.

“It has nothing to do with feminism, and it is disrespect to the artist that made the bull,” Gardega said. “That bull had integrity.”

The dog statue appeared over the weekend, but was removed by Tuesday.

The bull’s creator, artist Arturo Di Modica, is no fan of the girl statue either. The artist called for the statue, which was placed on Wall Street ahead of International Women’s Day in March, to be taken down.

Di Modica is suing State Street Global Advisors, the statue’s creators.

The girl statue has attracted tourists and has been widely praised online. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has agreed to keep the temporary sculpture around until March 2018, and has been outspoken against its critics.

“Men who don’t like women taking up space are exactly why we need the Fearless Girl,” he tweeted in April.
