An infant whose death is now formally under investigation by the Edmonton Police Service homicide unit was identified by his grandmother as Jarock Humeniuk Monday afternoon.
Police said the body of a six-month-old boy was found when officers were called to a home near 142 Avenue and 77 Street at around 7 a.m. Sunday.

On Monday afternoon, police confirmed the homicide unit was investigating the “suspicious death,” but said autopsy results released earlier in the day were unable to confirm the cause of death. They said further tests are needed.
The boy’s mother told Global News the infant was in the care of his father at the time of his death.
