2nd-degree murder charge laid in Fort McMurray man’s death

A 61-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a man’s death in Fort McMurray.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance at an apartment on Riverstone Ridge on Tuesday evening, where a man was found dead.

A man who was inside the apartment was arrested.

Police said the incident does not appear to be random and there is no danger to the public.

On Friday, police identified the victim as 48-year-old Richard Huppie of Fort McMurray. The cause of his death was not released.

Barry Michaud, also of Fort McMurray, is charged with one count of second-degree murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
