The New York Police Department (NYPD) has released surveillance camera footage of a 78-year-old man fighting back after two men attempted to assault and rob him.
According to the NYPD, the incident occurred last Wednesday inside a Shorty’s Deli in Brooklyn. Police say one of the men approached and then assaulted the 78-year-old as captured on store security cameras.

However, the unidentified assailant soon had his hands full with the elderly gentleman, who shoved him backwards on multiple occasions despite being struck by the younger man.

In addition, police say a second suspect, not captured on store security cameras, approached the 78-year-old from behind and pilfered his wallet and cellphone.
Police say the 78-year-old suffered lacerations and bruising to his face as a result of the attack. He was taken to Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn where he is in serious but stable condition.
Both men fled the store following the attack, and thus far, no arrests have been made. Police have released video of the attack in the hopes that one of the men can be identified.
