Homes flooded after car hits fire hydrant in North Vancouver

A number of homes have been flooded after a car hit a fire hydrant in North Vancouver Thursday morning.

It happened around 7 a.m. near Derby Place and Highland Boulevard.

It appears at least five properties have been affected.

The District of North Vancouver confirmed to Global News their crews are currently on scene to shut off water and deal with the damage caused by the crash.

Witnesses tell Global News at least a dozen firefighters were on scene trying to divert the water away from homes.
