Shortly before 9 p.m. Monday a structure from a construction zone fell onto the road in the Ville-Marie tunnel.
According to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Claude Denis, a crane hit the structure resulting in the closure of the tunnel while Transports Quebec cleaned up the debris.

Denis said the incident took place on the westbound side between Viger Avenue and Saint-Laurent Boulevard.
“One of the signs that indicates which lanes are open was hit by an excavator and landed on the 18-wheeler that stopped right in front of me,” Kassandra Jordan told Global News.
“After about an hour and a half, we were assisted in backing up and turning around in the tunnel, which was down to two lanes because of construction.”
Nobody was injured and no vehicles were implicated.
The tunnel has since reopened.
