MONTREAL – Police chase ended in the death of a Montreal driver Monday evening.
Quebec provincial police officers were pursuing a speeding car headed east through the Ville Marie tunnel at around 10 p.m.
The driver lost control of the vehicle after running into the sidewalk as he tried to exit the Expressway.
The car ploughed through a fence and rolled into a ditch next to the train shipping yard on Notre Dame Blvd under the Jacques Cartier Bridge.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
As is customary when police are involved in an incident, the Sureté du Québec has handed the case over to Montreal police, who are conducting an investigation.
