A 28-year-old man has died in hospital after an intervention became physical with the Montreal police.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, police received a call about a man being in conflict with his parents in Île-Bizard, according to Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.

When police arrived at the residence on Monk Place, they tried to intervene and the situation became physical.

The man then went into cardiac arrest and was transported to hospital where he later died.

The case has been transferred to Quebec’s Bureau of independent investigations (BEI).
