Police are trying to determine how a woman died on the Mistawasis First Nation in Saskatchewan.

At around 4:40 a.m. CT on Friday, Shellbrook RCMP received a call that a 28-year-old woman was unresponsive at a home on the reserve.

The woman was taken to hospital in Shellbrook where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

Mounties said an autopsy is scheduled to take place on Monday in Saskatoon.

The RCMP major crime unit north continues to investigate with along with the forensic identification section and the coroner’s office.

Mistawasis First Nation is approximately 115 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
