5 charged, nearly $25K in drugs seized in 2 separate drug busts

Five people are facing multiple charges in connection to two separate drug busts in the city on Thursday, London police said.

Of the five, four have been charged in relation to a police search warrant at an east London residence.

According to investigators, members of the Canadian Border Services Agency notified the RCMP on Sunday that a package destined for a London address had been seized.

The package, police allege, contained an undisclosed amount of cocaine.

Officers searched a residence on Wavell Street as part of the investigation, taking four people into custody, police said.

As part of the investigation and search warrant, 236 grams of suspected crack cocaine, valued at $23,600, and 10 grams of marijuana, valued at $100, have been seized, police said.

Three men aged 48, 43, and 33, and one woman, 36, are facing multiple drug-related charges as a result of the probe.

Meantime, a 37-year-old London man has been charged with multiple drug trafficking offences in connection to a separate drug bust at an address on Stanley Street.

In that incident, police seized $1,154 worth of drugs including methamphetamine, hydromorphone, cannabis resin, marijuana, and Ritalin, and $1,720 in Canadian currency.

The accused also faces a charge of fail to comply with recognizance, police said.
