Historic Calgary landmark Eamon’s is on the move

CALGARY – The historic Eamon’s building and its sign are in the process of being transported to their new location.

The 1950’s service station had been situated in the city’s northwest along Crowchild Trail. However, the space the landmark was on is the future location for the Rocky Ridge LRT park and ride lot.

The City of Calgary voted in May to move the building to a storage location, with an estimated cost of $500,000.

The moving of the building will allow the park and ride construction project to stay on its timeline.

The popular building once housed a drive-in restaurant, a service station and a motel.

Eamon’s also entered into Canadian pop culture with an appearance in the hit single for singer Corey Hart’s 1986 music video “I Am by Your Side.”
