Avalanche warning for the Sea-to-Sky mountains

A heads up if you’re planning to head into the B.C. backcountry over the next few days.

The Canadian Avalanche Centre is warning the avalanche danger in alpine areas of the Sea-to-Sky region is now “high.”

Travel in avalanche terrain is not recommended, and the risk in Whistler itself is only rated as moderate.

A high avalanche rating is also forecast for Friday in the north and south Columbia regions.

With more snow and wind overnight, backcountry skiers and snowmobilers are being warned to be particularly cautious.
