Traffic stop results in drug charges for 2 Halifax men

Two Halifax men are facing drug charges after police conducted a traffic stop on Thursday.

Members of the Quick Response Unit stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Larry Uteck Boulevard at approximately 10 a.m.

A vehicle search was done and uncovered crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside, police said. They arrested a man and woman, both occupants of the vehicle, without incident.

Search warrants were executed shortly after the traffic stop on two separate units at apartment buildings on Bedros Lane and Gristmill Court in Halifax. A quantity of crack cocaine, MDMA pills, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia were seized, police said. A man was also arrested from the apartment on Gristmill Court.

A 49-year-old man from Halifax has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

A 20-year-old Halifax man is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking MDMA and purpose of trafficking marijuana.

The woman was released without charges.

Both men are set to appear in Halifax provincial court Feb. 14.
