The synagogue’s youth and program director, Viki Zerdok, had kids bake traditional doughnuts instead of frying them for safety reasons.

Before beginning the activity, Zerdok taught the children about the history of Hanukkah.

“I think that if the kids leave here happy and excited about the program and enjoyed it then it was a success,” Zerdok said.

Zerdok is also organizing other family-friendly events for the holiday.
