Tentative deal reached between Moncton’s Codiac Transpo, locked-out transit workers

MONCTON, N.B. – A tentative agreement has been reached to end a five-month long lockout of transit workers in Moncton, N.B.

The deal between the city and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1290 was reached Tuesday after three days of talks.

Neither side would comment on details of the agreement to get the buses at Codiac Transpo running again until it is ratified.

Union spokesman George Turple says the offer will be voted on by about 75 bus drivers and other employees who are members of the union on Friday.

Mayor George LeBlanc says if the deal is ratified, transit service will resume in the weeks ahead.
