On Saturday, Dec. 17, Walmart Canada will be matching Salvation Army kettle donations made at Walmart locations, up to $100,000.
“This is a generous gift,” Pastor Darryl Burry, Executive Director of The Salvation Army Central Okanagan, said in a press release, “and we are grateful for Walmart Canada’s pledge to match what we receive here in Kelowna.”

The $100,000 is divided between Salvation Army Corps across the country based on the percentage of what each community donates. Funds raised from this campaign enable The Salvation Army to help families now and throughout the year.
“We are currently seeing a minimum of 20% increase in families needing our help from last year. Funding from the Walmart Match will ensure that we fit our target of $750,000 for our Christmas Campaign,” Patty Lou Bryant, Communications Coordinator of The Salvation Army Central Okanagan, said in a press release.
