TORONTO – The City of Toronto is set to launch a new pilot program that would benefit cyclists trying to find parking spots in the downtown core.
The joint program between Astral Out-of-Home and the City of Toronto will test a new style of rack that allows for multiple bikes to be parked in each location.

If the project gets the green light, the new racks will supplement Toronto’s iconic post-and-rings units.
“Along with the City of Toronto we are committed to offering street furniture solutions that improve the beauty and functionality of Toronto’s streets,” said Luc Sabbatini, president of Astral Out-of-Home, in a press release. “The new multi-bike racks will help improve the experience of the City’s cyclists.”
In 2008, the city launched the Toronto Street Furniture program, which provides transit shelters, litter and recycling bins, public posting columns, bicycle racks and benches across the city.
The multi-bike racks will be tested in eight areas in and around the downtown core.
