Emergency crews respond to serious crash on Disraeli Freeway

WINNIPEG — Multiple emergency crews rushed to the Disraeli Freeway at Argyle Street after a serious crash Wednesday afternoon.

It appears two vehicles were involved in the crash at around 2:45 p.m. The southbound lanes of the Disraeli Freeway were closed and northbound lanes have only been partially opened.

Police hope to have the Disraeli Freeway reopened Wednesday night.

If you need to drive through the area you can either take the Louise Bridge or the Redwood Bridge to get across the Red River.

One person was transported to hospital in critical condition and another in stable condition, according to police.

Witnesses on scene told Global News one person was on the ground receiving CPR and that one of the cars briefly caught on fire after the crash.

The road closures will stay in effect as investigators work in the area.
