WINNIPEG — A Winnipeg version of Monopoly, a quirky poster of Charleswood and a map of the Exchange District – these are a few ‘peg themed gifts that shoppers are buying for their loved ones.
The Gas Station Arts Theatre has recently released “Villageopology,” an Osborne Village themed board game. The proceeds made from the $50 game go towards the theatre’s expansion.
“You can have some fun at home playing this game with your family and friends and chat about your experiences coming down to the village,” Nick Kowalchuk, executive director said.

Kowalchuk hopes the board game is a hit with holiday shoppers.
The Forks Trading Company is another hot spot to get some locally themed gifts — from colouring books to bags and quirky posters about Winnipeg neighbourhoods.
“The colouring book can be for adults or kids,” Megan Basaraba, manager of The Forks Trading Company said. “It’s neat because can see the different spots of Winnipeg they might recognize rather than just colour in a regular colouring book.”

Basaraba has found the local products to be popular this season, a trend also noted by Tara Davis Boutique which carries Winnipeg products like pillows, tea towels and baby outfits to name a few.
“Winnipeggers are sending these items out to their families to locations that have maybe once made fun of Winnipeg and showing them that it’s pretty cool here,” Davis said.
