Two companies have been fined for Saskatchewan workplace safety violations after two workers were injured in separate incidents.

Prince Albert Co-operative Association Ltd. and Rest-Well Mattress Company Ltd. both pleaded guilty for failing to provide an effective safeguard where a worker could come into contact with a dangerous moving part of a machine.

In the first case, Prince Albert Co-operative Association Ltd. was fined $50,001 after a worker’s left hand came into contact with the blade of a table saw while he was working in May 2015.

In the second case, British Columbia-based Rest-Well Mattress Company Ltd. was fined $40,005 after a worker was injured in June 2015 when his head was pinched in a machine table he was repairing.

Two additional charges against each company were stayed.
